Praise from the

opposition

TORY MP Peter Luff has won praise from an unusual source a fully paid-up member of the Labour Party.

A visitor to the Mid-Worcestershire MP's website was certainly surprised by his insistence on fair play.

It offered links to the Labour and Liberal Democrat sites, as well as that of his own party.

A Martin Kavanagh sent the MP an e-mail reading: I have to say that I found your website very easy to use.

The links to the three parties websites really impressed me as a piece of even-handed treatment.

Mr Kavanagh even went on to applaud Mr Luff for his support of the Severn Valley Railway.

Speaking his mind

SPEAKER Michael Martin has given Ministers a roasting after Peter Luff complained about delays in responding to letters.

The Mid-Worcestershire Tory MP highlighted that the Department of Health had a target of replying to letters in 20 days.

But sometimes he had to wait up to nine months.

I would expect Ministers to act promptly on correspondence from all backbenchers on both sides of the House, said Mr Martin.

You just can't win!

MIKE Foster has been out knocking on doors as the General Election campaign hots up.

But the Worcester Labour MP has met with some bizarre reactions.

One voter refused to back him because Labour was spending "too much money on education.

And another man said Mr Foster would not be getting his vote because he had not helped him to move his couch.

It's just a matter of accepting that you can't please all the people all the time, says the MP.
