Bank lends its colours to the under-10s

From the Worcester News, first published Friday 22nd Sep 2006.

YOUNG footballers in Pershore have scored with their local bank, which has decided to sponsor their kit.

Pershore Town FC's under-10s team is having a highly successful season and now players are wearing a new, NatWest branded strip for the rest of their campaign.

The initiative forms part of a Midlands and Wales programme, launched by the bank to strengthen the ties between staff and their communities.

Debra Hughes, the manager at NatWest's Droitwich Spa branch, whose son Jack plays for the team, nominated them.

She explained: "Being involved with Pershore Town FC Under 10s, I know how difficult it is for them and teams like them to raise funds for kit, so this scheme is an ideal way for us to assist and to strengthen our ties with local communities.

The team are doing really well after last season when they won the Evesham League and Cup, the Stratford Town tournament and the Badsey tournament, so it's great that NatWest has agreed to support to the team.

When you give up spare time to work for an important part of the community, such as a youth organisation like the team, it's great to know the bank is willing to give you support."
